I cannot get more than one computer able to use my internet at the same time. I installed my Linksys with the cd when I first got it without knowing its better to not use the cd. If I take it off and install it as described above, will it solve my problem?

I just bought a new modem (westell) I'm trying to connect my modem to my wireless - G broadband router linksys when i'm trying to install the linksys to my modem it says that it has trouble to connect to the internet. Is it because my router is old and need to buy a new one?

Try some of the other guides on this site for troubleshooting internet connectivity.

also. because you changed the security to WPA2, you need to delete the old wireless configurations from your computers and reconnect them.

If this does not work, you could try setting the security back to what it was before.

Help please. I need to add my iMac to my wireless network using linksys WRT160N. We have two wireless Aceer laptop/netbooks. I used the default web address and set up the passphrase. It was all working fine until I added a WPA2 Personal passphrase and then I couldn't get online. So I upgraded my iMac to OS 10.3.9, and Airport to 4.2.

Now I'm stuck, don't know what "cycling" equipment means,
need step by step to figure out what to do now.
Guessing from other posts that I need to connect via Ethernet the iMac and the linksys router.
I have the Airport Mac address for my Airport on the mac. I have the Mac address for the router.

Question is, what exactly do I add and where?
Thankis for all your advise ! I've been at this for four nights already.

First, you shouldn't need to change the MACs at all with Comcast unless I am missing something.

Second, your Linksys router is likely performing PAT or port address translation in order to split the connection between multiple computers. This will cause the speed to drop slightly.

On older Linksys routers, the WAN port is only a 10MB port, you may want to check that. Also, you way want to look into a router with a higher throughput.

I have a Linksys router connected to a comcast modom. I reset the MAC address on the router to my computers MAC address and now have my two computers connected to the internet. My problem is that I am now getting slightly less than half speed connection to the internet. I thought it was due to the router splitting the connection between the computers but I still get half speed when I have only one computer hooked up to the router. If I go directly to the modom from my computer I get 20Mbs. Through the router I get 8.5Mbs. What can I do to get my speed back up to at least close to 20Mbs?

I tried to install my Netgear router with the cd, I could not connect, the message says that my computer's spywear could be blocking the connection...I do not know how to allow the spywear to allow the connection. Do you know how I can change the settings on the spywear?

Tom, I just reread your post, if you router and your PC have the same MAC, you will have a duplicate MAC address in your network, this will surely cause issues.

You should not need to change the MAC address in the router, just use the default MAC and power cycle everything in order.

Here is a link
